Bringing the past to life

Following the signing of a four-book deal with French publisher Actes Sud-Errance in November 2005, Thalamus is now set to launch the first title of the series on 2nd April 2007. This will be the first time that Jean-Claude Golvin's amazing reconstructions of ancient cities will be accessible to a wide English audience.

Golvin brings a unique set of talents to his work – architect, archaeologist and illustrator. He is a renowned historial throughout the French-speaking world, but few of his drawings and watercolour paintings have enjoyed much exposure in English before. The first title, due for publication on 2nd April 2007 is ANCIENT CITIES BROUGHT TO LIFE (ISBN: 978-1-902886-15-2).

The 192-page, full-colour book features over 100 reconstructions spanning 30 centuries from Mesopotamian ziggurats to Egyptian pyramids, from the Parthenon to Baalbek Temple, from the centre of Rome to ancient Lutetia Parisi (Paris).

The following three books to be published are: Voyage en Egypte Ancienne (A trip to Ancient Egypt); Voyage en Gaule Romaine (A trip to Roman Gaul); and Voyage en Méditerranée Antique (A Trip Around the Ancient Mediterranean).
